all that heart wants

The heart doesn't want lavish things,
it only needs little things to be happy.

A glance of the eye,
A smile of the face,
A voice calling out the name
A touch of hesitation...

Quintessential by its appearance,
delusional by its very nature...
- Hope.

All it needs is an assurance of knowing,
A gesture of unease,
A hint of acknowledgement,
and a display of zeal.

All it needs is an unexpected wait,
And an insatiable 'bye...'

BLACK MAGIC WOMAN

What comes to your mind when u hear the words 'BLACK MAGIC WOMAN' ???

The term 'black' makes its sound eerie, evil of sorts...'Magic' makes it mysterious, mystical...and with that the word 'Woman' is like bang... sending shivers down your spine,a fantasy come true,

The combination of these three is deadly...
femme fatale
at its best...

Imagine...

a lady in black, tall and dusky, sleek and slender,
standing across the hallway,
shimmering in a satin black gown...
kissing the flute of wine,
with a sparkling necklace adorning her neck,
her earrings playing hide n seek,
her glances casting spells on everyone,

with a mesmerizing calmness on her face,
she looks at you,
you shy away,
look again, and she's still here...
but what's this...
she's coming your way,
her eyes hypnotising you as you struggle to get free,
her killer stilettos freezing time with every step,

the once distant figure... now becoming true by the second,

her disarming smile,
inching closer with every step,

enticing the evil within,
dissolving everything else into darkness,
she is right there in front of you,

as you struggle to catch your breath,
sorting out jumbled words tumbling down in your mind,

reinforcing yourself, you hold your breath...

but hey.... whats this....

she just swam past you...

haplessly , gasping for air, you gather yourself,
whats left of her is her hypnotising aroma,
as you try to take the last whiff,

there she is ... walking away...
trying to figure out what just happened,
you suddenly notice...

her eyes grab your your attention,
she turns her head a little, stealing a glance of you...
you catch her eyes red handed... and her smile knives down your heart...

with a thirst in your eyes, you are left asking for more...

You wouldn't help but wonder why i tell u all this... ???

WHY ???

I tell u all this... for i know one such lady... ;)

" I got a Black Magic Woman.
I got a Black Magic Woman.
Yes, I got a Black Magic Woman,
She's got me so blind I can't see;
But she's a Black Magic Woman and
she's trying to make a devil out of me.

Don't turn your back on me, baby.
Don't turn your back on me, baby.
Yes, don't turn your back on me, baby,
Don't mess around with your tricks;
Don't turn your back on me, baby,
'cause you might just wake up my magic sticks.

You got your spell on me, baby.
You got your spell on me, baby.
Yes, you got your spell on me, baby,
Turnin' my heart into stone;
I need you so bad,
Magic Woman I can't leave you alone. "

'TECH LAB' ICE AGE ki YAADEIN... ;)

When the training at HCL got over, I was worried that the group may get disintegrated and the times we used to laugh would be snatched away from us.

Then came the along the days of Skillports and Process Training, which were a pleasant surprise. What with all the masti in completing each others skill port courses and the ‘Balee ka bakra’ chakkar :P.

But what followed was totally unexpected!!! :D

Starting days were just tafri days, all we used to do was hang in the cafeteria playing TT and pool. A few of us got assigned their cubicles (Arun and Swati), and some of us got whole rooms full of computers all to themselves (Vaibhav and Mandvika) :D It was this tech lab room that became the hub of our matargasti and thuss. What haven’t we talked about in there. Starting from the cutie to the gadaadhaari (No Offenses to anyone intended), from vaibhav’s art galleries to my own PJs, from cost cutting to holiday destinations, from phuket beaches to Bamiyaan’s Buddha, from temples to wild animals, from himachal’s hill stations to ‘satpura ke ghane jangal, uunghte anmane jangal’

However, two... ummm…. what should is say... limelight grabbers ;)… have been - the horror show and the love bites.

Horror show takes the coveted runner’s up position, an intense show, complete with slow voice and decorated with turned off lights, it was an event to remember.

From Vaibhav’s – ‘One Wrong Foot’ to Mandvika’s ‘Monkey Man’ and the ‘Dadaji and Driver’ tale; from Sanjay’s picturesque desert wind with lantern in the castle (that too atop a hill) to my own spirit meets, it was all there.

And the priced position- the winner is our session of - love bites. Not many people know about this, but this was the gem of all the talks. Although this was held in the cafeteria, but it managed to qualify as it was still one of the chats belonging to the ice age… as a matter of fact, it was the icy cold of tech lab that drew us towards that cuppa coffee, where we all sat on that very special table, and opened our hearts out. Just to make sure that everybody’s on the same page, there were 4 people who took part in this session – Sanjay, Saurabh, Maryam and last, but by no means least, myself :D. Although one of us turned out to be an alien, you know whom m talking bout, but rest of us were pretty much humans… who had experienced all the usual emotions of joy…for someone, care for someone, wait of someone, anxiety of meeting someone, longing for someone, fear of someone’s rejection…and the ever so common desire of that moment of sweet awkwardness, where the racing heartbeat reveals itself as the symphony of love…

I wrote this entry as an ode to those ‘nutty’ ice age days. Those small-small moments, they are priceless, to be cherished forever as they are what brought us close, in the beginning of what is to be a life-long journey where we have just put forward our first few steps. I know, that these memories are not going to last forever, and slowly they may fade away, and parting ways may become inevitable, but it is for this reason that I would like to quote someone,

“One of the reasons why people hold on to memories so tight is because memories are the only thing that don’t change when everything else does.”

And on a happier note, I hope that that someone is not just anyone, but the melodious one :)

How Women Pick Mates

Science might be able to explain our fascination with Brad Pitt's chiseled jaw and George Clooney's smoldering eyes.

Women seem to judge potential mates by how masculine their features are, new research shows. Men with square jaws and well-defined brow ridges are seen as good short-term partners, while those with more feminine traits such as a rounder face and fuller lips are perceived as better long-term mates.

In the study, 854 male and female subjects viewed a series of male head shots that had been digitally altered to exaggerate or minimize masculine traits. The participants then answered questions about how they expected the men in the photos to behave.

Overwhelmingly, participants said those with more masculine features were likely to be risky and competitive and also more apt to fight, challenge bosses, cheat on spouses and put less effort into parenting. Those with more feminine faces were seen as good parents and husbands, hard workers and emotionally supportive mates [compare examples].

Despite all the negative attributes, when asked who they would choose for a short-term relationship, women still selected the more masculine looking men. Brad and George then would be picks for a brief romance, if not the long haul.

Makes sense

The study, detailed in the December issue of the journal Personal Relationships, reached conclusions similar to research published earlier last year in Britain.

The new study's author, Daniel Kruger at the University of Michigan's School of Public Health, said that from an evolutionary perspective, it makes sense women would view more masculine-looking men as potential flings and less masculine-looking ones as long-term partners.

The key, he said, is testosterone, the hormone responsible for development of masculine facial features and other secondary sexual characteristics.

Testosterone is necessary for development, but can also have detrimental health effects. It has been shown, for example, to interfere with the body's immune response, so men who are able to maintain high levels of the hormone are typically strong and healthy-traits women would want to pass on to their progeny.

Increased testosterone has also been linked to male cheating and violence in relationships, so while these men might produce high quality offspring, they don't always make great parents or faithful mates, Kruger says.

The study suggests women could be equipped to use seemingly superficial characteristics "as a cue to pick up on trends in these behavioral strategies," Kruger said.

Get a clue

There are plenty of these signals in the animal world. Male peacocks' huge, outrageous tails can make foraging for food and evading predators difficult, but the plumage, which many researchers say indicates male fitness, is so effective at luring females that the trait has been preserved in the population, Kruger points out.

While the findings are compelling, the scientific community has typically greeted the field of physiognomy, which links facial characteristics to certain behavioral traits, with skepticism.

Kruger argues, however, that the research is a valuable tool for understanding mating strategies. And, of course, for explaining how Pitt and Clooney managed to snag People Magazine's "Sexiest Man Alive" title two times each-it might have to do with their genes, but could also have something to do with ours

Why We're Not All Beautiful?????

A new study explains why we aren't all born with Brad Pitt's perfectly chiseled features or Angelina Jolie's pouty lips.

A long-standing thorn in the side of biologists has been the difficulty in accounting for the enormous variation between individuals when sexual selection by females for the most attractive mates should quickly spread the "best" genes through a population.

"It is a major problem for evolutionary biology," said study team leader Marion Petrie of Newcastle University.

The lek paradox

For some species, females select the most attractive males to mate with: female peacocks will choose males with the longest tail feathers-the peacock version of George Clooney. These more attractive features usually indicate some other level of genetic fitness, such as disease resistance, that the female's offspring will then also inherit.

According to this method of sexual selection, if females only bred with the most attractive males, then all males should be equally attractive and sexual selection could not take place. (In the peacocks' case, all males would have similarly long tails.) But clearly this isn't the case: for every Johnny Depp out there, there's a George Costanza-in humans, birds and other animals alike.

This so-called "lek paradox" (a lek is a group of males congregated for mating) has plagued evolutionary biologists for decades.

"If you had no variation at all, you wouldn't get evolution,"

But a group of British scientists think they have found the answer to the paradox in the human body's "DNA repair kits."

DNA repair kits

A cell's DNA repair kit is not really a kit but a set of molecular processes that routinely repair the damage done to the cell's DNA that result in genetic mutations, under normal conditions. Mutations can be harmful and cause tissue to degenerate, malfunction or develop cancers. Other mutations are beneficial, such as those in the part of the genome responsible for disease defense that make an individual more resistant to attacks from bacteria and viruses.

Some mutations affect the repair processes themselves and make them less efficient which results in more mutations as the damage goes unrepaired.

"You can raise or lower your own mutation rate,"

A higher mutation rate creates more diversity in a population. Using a computer model, Petrie found that the greater genetic diversity created by mutations that affect DNA repair outweighed the decrease in diversity arising from sexual selection.

In some of her earlier work, Petrie showed that men with greater genetic diversity in areas of the genome relating to disease defense were also rated as more attractive by women. So because these males with greater mutation rates are more likely to mate, they will pass that higher rate on to their offspring, allowing sexual selection to propagate variation through the population, a finding that likely applies to all organisms.

This propagation means that peacocks' tail feathers will vary in length and that some of us definitely won't be America's next top model.

300

Before starting to write some serious stuff about the movie, i must mention that there were a few 'other' stories realted to it as well.

Bon, alors.....

I liked the storyline. The movie had immense potential.

The story is all about belief and faith.

Interestingly, i came across the difference in faith and beleif as the linguistics define it...
Faith is something which u have because of your conditioning, the way u hv been brought up.
Whereas beleif is something u do by your own will !!!

If you beleive in yourself, and have faith then nothing is impossible !!!

It teaches us about responsibility. If you are true, and u know you can bring about a change , then its not your choice, but your responsibilty to do so.

Pretty 'NEAT'

Today... was a special day.
A day I wouldn't like to forget for a long time !!!

Today I saw what youth is all about...the true vigor that runs, or should run , through the veins of 20 year old boy.

Today is when I felt that I had missed on this part of life altogether.
Today is when I saw the 'uth ' part of life that most people keep bragging about !!!

Today is when I saw emotions soar high, situations gettin intense and that raw energy emerging as the stealth winners !!!
This is also the kinda stuff that should be built within us.
This is also the way it should sometimes be !!!

The three B's that go together pretty well - Boys, Booze and Babes ;)

Today....was the first time I went to a DISCO !!!! lolzzzz....
